Collection: CLAY OLLAS/CAZUELAS
For generations, clay ollas and cazuelas have been part of Mexican kitchens, where food is prepared slowly and shared with the people we love. Our pieces come from artisan families in Oaxaca, where each olla and cazuela is shaped with patience and care, carrying a tradition that has been part of family kitchens for generations.
Use them to prepare beans, soups, stews, sauces, rice, mole, café de olla, and so much more. They are made to be used—not simply displayed—and their natural clay brings a beautiful, traditional touch to the cooking experience.
Each piece is unique, with natural variations in shape, texture, and color that come from being handmade.
Stove Care Instructions
Because natural clay needs time to adjust to heat, a little care will help protect your olla or cazuela:
- Before the first use, completely submerge the piece in clean water overnight. This allows the clay to absorb moisture before being exposed to heat.
- Let it air dry completely before using it on the stove.
- Always begin with a room-temperature piece. Never place a cold clay olla directly onto a hot burner.
- Start cooking over low heat and allow the piece to warm gradually. You can slowly increase the heat as needed, but avoid high heat.
- Make sure the bottom of the olla or cazuela is fully supported by the burner.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes. Never place a hot clay piece under cold water or on a cold/wet surface.
- After cooking, allow the piece to cool naturally and completely before washing.
- Hand wash gently with mild soap and lukewarm water, then allow it to dry completely.
Clay is a natural material, so treating it gently is part of the experience. Small changes in color, texture, or finish over time are natural and add to the character of your handmade piece.
